THE HALTON-PEEL MYELOMA SUPPORT GROUP SERVING THE WEST GTA REGION
The Halton-Peel Myeloma Support Group (HPMSG) is a patient and caregiver led support group. We welcome family, friends and anyone who are interested in learning more about multiple myeloma. We are a non-profit community based organization. Membership is free of charge.
HPMSG was started in September 2013 by Norma Lindner after she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. The group currently has over 100 members.
The HPMSG derives inspirational and educational support from Myeloma Canada and we work together annually on a country wide fundraising activity that provides money for research into new treatments.
Over the years, Myeloma Canada has evolved into an innovative, internationally-respected organization focusing on a grassroots, patient-driven approach to achieve goals. Working with support groups across the country, Myeloma Canada has helped create a sense of "oneness" and common purpose, helping patients and their families learn about the disease while raising awareness in the community.
Our meetings are currently held monthly on Saturday mornings.
In January, February and March, our meetings are held virtually on the Zoom App from 10:00am-11:30am. For the remainder of the year, they are held both in-person and on the Zoom App from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
There is no meeting in August.
The Zoom ID will be forwarded via email, a few days prior to each meeting, to those members who have provided an email address.
Meetings are designed to
Outside of the meetings, there are opportunities for members to get involved with Advocacy for research designed to find new treatment options and for building community awareness of the disease.
